The area surrounding the Sequoia Retreat Center is full of small, incredibly unique, towns full of antique charm and rustic character, all while being surrounded by one of nature's greatest gift, the redwoods! You can go to the Uptake Destinations website, and tons of alternative places to stay and visit are featured, including the gorgeously rustic B&B, The Redwood Croft Bed and Breakfast Inn.
You can choose to explore the campgrounds from my childhood, at Big Basin State Park. You can rent tent cabins or set up your own tent, as well as beautiful trails to hike through the redwoods.
Twenty minutes from the SRC is another stomping ground of mine from my glorious, California childhood, the amazingly awesome Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk! There are plenty of roller coasters,, arcade games, and funnel cake to go around, while the beautiful Santa Cruz beach and pier create the perfect background to memories and fun. Something that I would highly recommend if you're planning on staying in the area.
